(On the test paper there are 3-4 lines to translate from English to French. You read the English and write the translation in French. The lines are based on the passage found on p. 83, l. 30 - p. 84, l. ll.)

(On the test paper there are 6-7 lines to translate from French to English. You read the French and write the translation in English. The lines to translate are taken from p. 60, l. 15 - p. 62, l. 4.)

III. Auteurs et titres (dictionnaire, oui; autres ressources, non)
(On the test paper there are about 8 questions for which you read the author's name or the name of the work, and you supply the missing information. If you read the name of the author, you write the name of the work; if you read the name of the work, you write the name of the author. The authors and titles are those in Chapters 1-8.)

IV. Compréhension (dictionnaire, oui; autres ressources, non)
(On the test paper there is a passage of 10-15 lines from one of the readings, followed by several multiple-choice questions. You indicate the one correct answer. This requires very careful reading of the passage and the questions.) The passage for Test I (chapters 1-8) will be taken from Chapter 7, «l'Autre Femme».
V. Questions à réponse brève (dictionnaire, oui; autres ressources, non)
(On the test paper there are 15-20 questions to which you write a short answer. The questions are based on or taken directly from those posted on the website. You are encouraged to write in French; grammar is not counted. You may, however, write in English.)
