Assignments, Tests and Quizzes

- May 5, Section 8.1, problems 1, 3, 7, 21, 23 and 24. These are to be
handed in on Thursday, May 8.
- Quiz 1 scheduled for Thursday (5/8)
will be a take home quiz to be handed out on Thursday and returned on
Monday (5/12).
- Note that a paragraph was missing from the handout from Monday labeled

Education or Special Education-Elementary. If you are uncertain
whether or not you should be taking this class, talk to your

- May 6, Section 8.2, problems 5, 6 and 7 These are not hand-in
problems.
- The hours for the Math Tutoring Center (Room 220 Pray-Harrold)
have been set for the Spring semester. They are 9 am to 4 pm,
Monday through Thursday.

Energy Consumption gives one years energy
consumption for a sample of 50 households in the South. Data are
in millions of BTUs. Using a spread sheet create a frequency table
for the data using groups of width 10, starting with 40-49. Then
use the frequency table (and the spread sheet) construct a histogram
of the data. Make sure that the histogram is properly labeled.

Simulation Demonstration. Note that
in the simulation it is assumed that the coin is fair.

- Test 1 is Thursday (5/22). It covers
sections 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3.

- Test 2 is Tuesday (6/10). It covers
sections 9.4, 9.5, 9.6 and 10.1. Questions will be similar to
homework problems that have been assigned.

- Quiz 4 is Thursday (6/19). It covers
sections 10.1 and 10.3.
- June 19, Section 10.4, problems 1, 3, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 37 and 38
- The Final Exam is Tuesday, June 24.
Note:
- There will be two parts to the final:
- The cumulative part covering up through the material covered on
Test 2 (Sections 8.1 through 8.3 and 9.1 through 9.6). Questions
on this part will be similar to questions on Quiz 1, Quiz 2,
Quiz 3, Test 1 or Test 2. This part will be about 70% of the
final.
- The part covering the material after Test 2. This will be about
30% of the final.
- You may bring one 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of notes to use on the final.
